The NIH's (National Institute of Health) All of Us Research Program is a nationwide effort to build the most diverse health database in history. They are aiming for 1,000,000 unique people from across the US to participate in providing genetic data. The data from this program is to be used for precision medicine which takes into consideration each person's unique characteristics instead of using a one size fits all method of care. Our All of Us project is a video game experience that is intended to teach the player about some of the most important information regarding the effort.
I have been working as a designer making mock-ups of gameplay features, and as an artist making 3D art for the VR experience and 2D art for the mobile experience. Much of what I do is in Illustrator and Maya. I use illustrator to make most mock-ups and to make 2D assets for UI. I use Maya for 3D models and animations. The team is located at the Games and Therapeutic Apps Lab at the University of Utah and is comprised of graduate student developers and a project manager. We are building these experiences with the goals of many stakeholders in mind. Often we hold large design/ feedback sessions with investors, distributors, researchers, artists, etc. that help us hone in on a mutually beneficial product while we develop.
